Enable tests on MR and fix build errors (!223) · Merge requests · pkg / linux

In order to test newer version before they land in the main branches enable running tests on MR.

Also drop checked-in file d/b/version-info, because this file is generated during build and as such, it shouldn't be revision controlled.
